As often happens in the works of Aristotle the second book of the De Anima – after having explored other’s opinions on the topic – takes up his own answer to the questions posed, in this case, what is the soul? and what are its parts?
This first question is a question of definition and here Aristotle offers two different kinds.
After presenting his definition of the Soul, Aristotle presents the various parts of the soul. He will continue to explore these parts in the rest of the book.
